The Rockland County Legislature and County Executive are pleased to announce that public engagement on the Task Force on Water Resources Management (Water Task Force and RCWTF) has begun. The RCWTF has engaged with the Environmental Committee of the Legislature, County Agencies, Office of the County Executive, and past Water Task Force members beginning in December 2024.
The RCWTF is now looking to meet with interested members of the public and prior subcommittee members through a virtual public information session, scheduled for Thursday, February 20th, 2025, from 6pm-7:30pm via Teams. To learn more and register for this session, please contact Nicole Laible, Coordinator of the Water Task Force, via email at Rocklandwatertf@co.rockland.ny.us.
“As the Task Force on Water Resources Management revitalizes in order to create a sustainable, actionable County Water Plan, community input will be critical,” said District 10 Legislator and Task Force Chair Beth Davidson. “I hope interested members of the public will come and share their concerns and priorities, as water quality and quantity affect everyone in Rockland County.”
“A reliable water supply is essential to both the physical well-being and economic vitality of Rockland County,” said County Executive Ed Day. “We urge the public to stay engaged with us—your passion and ideas are not just valued – they are vital to the ongoing success of our community.”
Previous public engagement took place on December 10th, 2024, where RCWTF staff and Chair provided a presentation to the Environmental Committee of the Legislature. This presentation included updates on Water Task Force operations, history of accomplishments, and engaged Legislators and the public in identifying future goals. This presentation is available online. Water Task Force staff also participated in several community events to speak one on one with the public and share resources.
The Water Task Force currently has an open user engagement survey to encourage the public and past Task Force members to submit their water resources priorities. Feedback provided through this user engagement survey will help create the 2025-2026 Annual Plan of Work. This survey will close at 5pm on March 1, 2025.
