On Monday, an impressive delegation of elected officials from all levels of government — federal, state, county, town, and village — visited the Satmar Matzah Bakery in Spring Valley for an up-close look at the traditional baking process in preparation of Pesach.
The tour was arranged by Community activist and Rockland County businessman Meyer Tauber and hosted in partnership with the Rockland Jewish Alliance. It gave officials the opportunity to witness firsthand the meticulous and sacred process of matzah production — from kneading the dough to the final baking. Observers were captivated by the speed, precision, and devotion displayed throughout the bakery.
Among the attendees were Rafi Silverberg, Senior Advisor to Congressman Mike Lawler; Michael Rydelek from Senator Bill Weber’s office; Mendy Lasker from Assemblyman Aron Wieder’s office; Rockland County Executive Ed Day; Deputy County Executive Mike Hoblin; Intergovernmental Liaison Steve Powers; Legislators Alden Wolfe, Jesse Malowitz, and Joel Friedman; Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht and his Chief of Staff Mona Montel; Montebello Deputy Mayor Stacy Caridi; Rockland District Attorney Tom Walsh and Chief Assistant Pat Frawley; Scott Waters, Spring Valley Trustee Sruly Eisenbach; Mendel Wolf Drummer; Monsey Fire Commissioner Yankee Fliegman; and many other local dignitaries and community leaders.
This marks the second consecutive year such a tour has taken place, offering a unique opportunity for government officials to engage directly with the local Jewish community, understand its religious customs, and reaffirm their commitment to public safety and community support during the busy pre-Pesach season.
The event concluded with a presentation of freshly baked matzos to all attendees, generously sponsored by the Rockland Jewish Alliance.
