Rockland DA Walsh Continues Summer Justice Court Initiative With Visits to Local Courts

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh is continuing his Summer 2026 Justice Court Initiative with visits to local courts across the county, including the Village of Piermont Justice Court and, last week, the Town of Ramapo Justice Court.

The initiative is aimed at recognizing the important role Town and Village Courts play in providing fair, accessible, and impartial justice. According to the District Attorney’s Office, these local courts are often a resident’s first—and sometimes only—interaction with the judicial system, making professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rule of law essential to maintaining public confidence.

As part of the initiative, DA Walsh is meeting with judges, court staff, law enforcement, defense attorneys, and, when appropriate, defendants with counsel present, to discuss best practices and promote consistency and fairness throughout the local court system.

The District Attorney’s Office said the initiative emphasizes openness and transparency, with the goal of ensuring justice is measured not by convictions, but by reaching the correct outcome while strengthening public trust in the judicial process.
