Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II held a press conference on Thursday at Village Hall in Haverstraw to announce a community gun buyback event scheduled for this Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 40 New Main Street.
Although Town of Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould was unable to attend, he was represented by Captain Ian Kaye of the Haverstraw Police Department. Also in attendance and delivering remarks was Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard T. Phillips Jr., who expressed strong support for the initiative.
District Attorney Walsh emphasized the importance of reducing gun violence and encouraged community participation in the buyback program, which offers up to $500 in pre-paid gift cards for surrendered firearms.
