Rockland County’s New Fire Operations Building Undergoes ‘Seasoning’ Process

Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services recently completed a unique ‘seasoning’ process at their new Fire Operations Building, aimed at preparing the interiors for high-heat situations.

This process involved controlled burns within the range of 300 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit in specially designated burn rooms. The procedure also included successful testing of the artificial smoke machine, the building exhaust system, and the temperature monitoring system.

These tests ensure that the building is fully prepared for operational use and training, enhancing the department’s capabilities in handling fire emergencies.
