Rockland County Shows Solidarity with Israel Amidst Crisis: Candlelight Rally Scheduled

The Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County is calling on residents and communities to come together in a powerful display of unity and support for the people of Israel. Amidst the heart-wrenching news of the violence in Israel, with over 900 dead, 2,500 wounded, and roughly 150 held captive in Gaza, the Federation is taking a stand.

The devastating invasion by Hamas has sent shockwaves around the world. The grim statistics coming from the embattled nation, when scaled to U.S. proportions, are staggering: it would be equivalent to 25,000 dead, 75,000 wounded, and over 5,000 captives – all in a single day.

“It’s not just about the numbers. Each figure represents a life, a family, a story,” stated a representative from the Federation. “We are deeply saddened, angered, and in mourning for our brothers and sisters in Israel.”

To show unwavering support for Israel, a candlelight rally is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10 at 6:45 p.m. This will take place on the staircase of the Rockland County Courthouse, located at 1 S. Main St., New City.

Participants at the rally will defy the acts of the “hateful killers,” mourning and praying for all the victims of this violence. They will also express their solidarity with the families and loved ones of those affected and extend their support for Israel in the challenging days that lie ahead.

“By coming together, we’re sending a clear message. We want the world to know that Rockland stands with Israel. In these trying times, division is not an option. We must unite,” the representative added.

Residents of Rockland and neighboring counties are urged to join this peaceful demonstration. The hashtag #RocklandStandsWithIsrael is being used across social media platforms to raise awareness and garner support.
