The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division announced that it will host the Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP), a premier educational course offered by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), from August 17–21, 2026, at the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona, NY.
The intensive 40-hour program is designed for current and prospective managers and supervisors of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and 9-1-1 authorities. Tuition is $1,325 for non-members and $1,115 for NENA members.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for public safety professionals in our region,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “The CMCP is rarely offered in the New York area, and we’re proud that Rockland County was selected as one of the few national host sites for 2026.”
The CMCP curriculum covers a wide range of leadership and management topics, including:
- PSAP culture and organizational design
- Business communications and project management
- Staffing, training, and quality assurance
- Legal issues and risk management
- Finance, procurement, and continuity of operations
- Media relations and industry best practices
Instructor Paul Hicks, ENP, will lead participants through both lecture and hands-on sessions aimed at developing real-world management skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops for interactive assignments.
The course is intended to equip both newly promoted and seasoned emergency communications leaders with practical skills in business writing, human resources, financial management, and operational oversight — all critical areas for effective 9-1-1 center management.
