Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Participates in Multi-Agency Bomb Disposal Drill at Grand Central Madison

At the beginning of the month, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office took part in a large-scale, multi-agency bomb disposal and hostage rescue training at Grand Central Madison. Organized by the MTA Police Department and the New York State Division of Homeland Security, the exercise included participation from the NYS Police Bomb Disposal Unit, NJ State Police, NYPD, Nassau and Suffolk County PDs, Westchester PD, Amtrak PD, TSA, and the NYS Office of Emergency Management.

The overnight drill focused on improving inter-agency coordination in high-risk scenarios, particularly in a high-traffic hub like Grand Central. No live munitions were used, but the training simulated real-time threats where swift communication and unified response are crucial.

Agency officials observed from a secure location as bomb disposal experts from the NJSP and FBI narrated the scenarios, offering insights and guidance throughout the operation.
