Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning About Jury Duty Phone Scam

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents in Rockland and Orange counties about an active phone scam in which callers impersonate law-enforcement officers and claim there are outstanding warrants for missing jury duty. The scammers then demand $4,500 to “clear” the alleged warrants.

Officials stress that these calls are not legitimate. The Sheriff’s Office does not call residents to demand money, payments, or personal information related to warrants or jury-duty issues.

Residents who receive such a call are urged not to engage, not to provide any information, and to hang up immediately.

Anyone who believes they were targeted or has questions should contact the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office directly at 845-638-5400.

Community members are encouraged to share this alert to help prevent others from falling victim.
