Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Achieves Prestigious Re-accreditation in Communications Division

In a significant achievement, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office has successfully undergone formal re-accreditation by the New York State Sheriffs’ Association (NYSSA) through its 911 Communications/PSAP Accreditation Program this week. This recognition places the Communications Division of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office among the elite few in New York State.

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office stands out as one of only six Sheriff’s Offices out of the fifty-eight in the state to attain this esteemed honor. The formal accreditation encompasses all four operational divisions of the office, including Police, Civil, Communications, and Corrections.

The NYSSA’s accreditation program involved a comprehensive examination of thirty-eight different aspects of the Communications Division’s workflow. This extensive review covered areas such as training, employment practices, operations, disaster mitigation, and administrative functions. Remarkably, this marks the first re-accreditation cycle for the Division, following its initial accreditation in 2019.

Sheriff Louis Falco, who has been at the forefront of this achievement, expressed his pride in the accomplishment. He stated, “This re-accreditation lets everyone living, working, or visiting in Rockland know that when they dial 9-1-1 on their cell phones, the agency receiving that call meets the highest statewide standards for emergency communications centers. We’re ready.”

The re-accreditation serves as a testament to the commitment and dedication of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office to ensuring the safety and well-being of its community members.

The achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and diligence of the accreditation team at the Communications Division, under the leadership of Chief of Division Adam Feuer.
