Rockland County Sheriffs Communications Division Earns Prestigious APCO International Recertification

In a momentous announcement, the Rockland County Sheriffs Communications Division has successfully secured the renewal of its Agency Training Program Certification (ATPC) from APCO International. This notable achievement confirms that the Division upholds the zenith of national standards when it comes to training 9-1-1 dispatchers.

The ATPC recertification, a meticulous evaluation spanning 153 distinct areas of dispatcher training, was conferred upon the Division by a committee of leading emergency dispatch professionals from various parts of the United States. This discerning committee assures that the Division’s practices are in line with the nation’s finest.

Remarkably, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office stands out in the Empire State. It joins the ranks of just three other agencies in New York to earn this honor and is the solitary recipient in the Hudson Valley region. This year marks the agency’s second certification cycle, having first attained the ATPC certification in January 2020. To put the magnitude of this accomplishment into perspective, fewer than two percent of the 5,748 9-1-1 centers throughout the country can boast of this distinction.

A hearty congratulations is in order for the dedicated training staff at the Division. Their relentless pursuit of excellence has paved the way for this outstanding recognition. The national award ceremony, set to celebrate their achievement, will be hosted in Orlando, FL come August 2024.

For those interested in delving deeper into the APCO Agency Training Program Certification or securing a press pass for the forthcoming ceremony, more information is readily available at http://www.apcointl.org/p33.
