In a united effort to combat gun violence and promote community safety, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, in partnership with the Clarkstown Police Department, the New York State Police, and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, will host a Community Gun Buyback Event on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The event will take place at the East Spring Valley Fire Department, located at 62 Overlook Blvd, Nanuet, NY 10954.
This anonymous, no-questions-asked initiative allows community members to safely turn in unwanted firearms in exchange for pre-paid gift cards, with no identification required and no questions asked.
Participants will receive:
-
$250 for an assault rifle
-
$150 for a handgun
-
$75 for a rifle or shotgun
-
$25 for non-working or antique guns
All firearms collected will be safely destroyed, and the program explicitly states that licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible to participate.
Officials request that firearms be transported unloaded and secured in the trunk of your vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office also reserves the right to decline manufactured gun parts or incomplete firearms.
This initiative is part of an ongoing commitment by local law enforcement to reduce the presence of dangerous weapons on the streets and make neighborhoods safer for all Rockland County residents.
