Rockland County has witnessed a record-breaking turnout for early voting in the 2024 election cycle, as per data from the county’s Board of Elections. Early voting numbers have nearly doubled, with 60,692 ballots cast this year, compared to 36,195 in 2020.
The data also indicates a strong early showing from Democratic voters, who cast 26,185 ballots, surpassing the 18,635 ballots from Republican voters.
Throughout Rockland, eight polling sites were set up where officials input voting information directly into laptops, which is then relayed to the main office. Final totals from each site are transported via USB to the Board of Elections’ New City office later in the evening.
Additionally, by Monday, Rockland’s Board of Elections reported the receipt of more than 16,279 absentee ballots, further adding to this election’s significant turnout.
