Rockland County Secures Over $240K in Homeland Security Grants to Strengthen Bomb Detection and Disposal Capabilities

Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco along  with County Executive Ed Day, announced the approval of significant funding from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. The funding aims to bolster the county’s bomb detection and disposal capabilities.

The county has been awarded a $15,000 Explosive Detection Canine Team Grant, which will be used to enhance the capabilities of the explosive detection canine team within the downstate New York region. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Bomb Disposal Unit will benefit from a $229,546 Bomb Squad Initiative Grant, which will be utilized to purchase advanced equipment necessary for the unit’s operations.
