Rockland County Secures Over $24 Million in Federal Funding for Public Transportation Expansion and Upgrades

Rockland County has secured a significant federal grant of $24,561,914 from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration, announced by County Executive Ed Day and Acting Commissioner Doug Schuetz. This funding aims to enhance the County’s Department of Public Transportation, including its TOR fixed route and TRIPS paratransit bus services.

A key component of this funding, $11,400,000, will be used to purchase new 30′ and 35′ transit buses. This move is designed to expand the fleet and cater to the increasing demand for public transportation services in the county. These new buses are expected to improve service reliability and meet the growing needs of Rockland County’s residents, aligning with the county’s commitment to providing efficient and sustainable transportation solutions.
