Rockland County Secures Hazardous Materials Grant to Bolster Regional Safety

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, alongside Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services Director Chris Kear, proudly announced the acceptance of a Hazardous Materials Grant Award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This grant aims to enhance the capabilities of the Regional Hazmat Teams serving Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.

The grant funds have been allocated as follows:

  • Rockland County: $38,000
  • Orange County: $49,650
  • Sullivan County: $9,000
  • Ulster County: $35,750

Rockland County plans to utilize its $38,000 portion to purchase new equipment, thereby strengthening the support and effectiveness of the Regional Hazmat Teams. This investment will significantly contribute to the safety and preparedness of the region in handling hazardous materials incidents.
