Rockland County Secures Grants for Emergency Housing and Landlord Incentive Programs

County Executive Ed Day, alongside Commissioner of the Department of Social Services (DSS) Joan Silvestri, approved two grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The first grant provides an additional $100,000 for the Rockland County Continuum of Care. These funds will support families and individuals participating in the Emergency Housing Voucher Program, assisting with moving and living expenses.

The second grant allocates an additional $150,000 for the Landlord Rent Incentive & Security Deposit Assistance Programs under the Section 8 Voucher programs. This funding aims to offer landlords a one-time bonus equivalent to one month’s rent after signing a contract with a new program participant from DSS’s waiting list or a different Public Housing Authority. It will also cover the costs of security deposits for these new participants.
