Rockland County RACES Enhances Emergency Communications with Antenna Upgrades Across Multiple Radio Spectrums

Rockland County’s Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) has significantly upgraded its antenna system, enhancing communication capabilities across High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) spectrums. These improvements strengthen RACES’s role in emergency response under the Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM) in the Incident Command System (ICS).

AUXCOMM supports a range of emergency communication services beyond standard public service operations, including Amateur Radio and other radio services like GMRS and CB. The Office of Emergency Services collaborated with RACES volunteers for this essential technology boost, marking a critical step in fortifying the county’s emergency preparedness infrastructure.
