Rockland County Proclaims June 15, 2024, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, in collaboration with the County Department of Social Services and the Office for the Aging, has officially proclaimed June 15, 2024, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in Rockland County. This significant proclamation aims to unite Americans of all ages with the international community to raise awareness and combat elder abuse.

In a statement, County Executive Day emphasized the importance of this day: “On this day, Americans of all ages join the international community to raise awareness and help bring an end to elder abuse.”

To show their support, the Allison-Parris County Office Building in New City and Building A at the Robert Yeager Health Complex in Pomona are illuminated in purple throughout the week. This visual display is a powerful reminder of the county’s commitment to addressing and preventing elder abuse.

Residents in need of assistance or those who know someone who might be, are encouraged to contact the Rockland County Department of Social Services’ Adult Protective Services (APS) team. Help is available by calling 845-364-3100 or by emailing RocklandAPS@dfa.state.ny.us.
