As Rockland County prepares to ring in the New Year, police departments across the county are urging residents to prioritize safety and avoid driving under the influence. Law enforcement agencies have announced increased patrols focused on enforcing DWI laws and ensuring roadways remain safe during the celebrations.
“Don’t start the new year sitting in a jail cell,” local police warned in a statement. They encouraged residents to plan ahead by calling a taxi, using a ride-sharing app, or arranging for a sober friend or family member to drive.
“We hope everyone stays safe and has a great night,” the statement continued, reminding the community that responsible celebrations are key to a happy start to 2025.
As part of this holiday enforcement initiative, police emphasized the following tips:
- Celebrate responsibly.
- Don’t drink and drive—designate a sober driver or use a rideshare service.
Police departments across Rockland County also extended warm wishes to all residents, families, and friends for a safe and happy New Year, while reinforcing their commitment to keeping the community safe. “We’ll be on DWI patrols tonight! If you’re going out to celebrate and plan to drink, get a sober ride home. Don’t spend your New Year with us!”
Let’s start 2025 on a positive note—drive sober or not at all.
