Rockland County officials celebrated the opening of a new walking path that connects Dutch Garden Park to Morahan-Zebrowski Demarest Kill Park, creating a direct link between two of the county’s most cherished green spaces.
The $1 million project includes a .75-mile trail that runs from the back lot near the bridge to the upper dam. The entire cost was fully funded through the Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), ensuring no burden on local taxpayers.
County leaders said the new path will not only improve public access but also expand recreational opportunities and encourage greater use of the county’s outdoor spaces.
“This new walking path is more than just pavement — it’s an investment in quality of life for Rockland residents,” County Executive Ed Day told Monsey Scoop. “By connecting Dutch Garden Park to Demarest Kill Park, we’re expanding access to two of our county’s most treasured green spaces, encouraging outdoor recreation, and enhancing community well-being. Best of all, we were able to complete this $1 million project without placing a burden on local taxpayers, thanks to full funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.”

It would be great to see this path shown on a county map.
