Rockland County Migrant Pleads Guilty to Syracuse Murder

Jhon Chacaguasay-Ilbis, a 22-year-old migrant from Ecuador residing in Rockland County, has admitted to the murder of Joselyn Toaquiza in Syracuse last June, as Monsey Scoop reported back then.

Chacaguasay-Ilbis was captured on video with Toaquiza at an Airbnb in Syracuse prior to the crime. Her body was later discovered in a local park, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest.

The defendant has now pleaded guilty and faces up to 22 years in prison when he is sentenced next month.
