The administration of Rockland County Executive Ed Day has been actively preparing a series of initiatives aimed at improving services and infrastructure for residents. Working closely with various county agencies, the administration has identified essential needs and coordinated efforts to present these matters for consideration at tonight’s County Legislature meeting.

Among the key proposals up for a vote on February 4th are:

Emergency Home Repairs Grant – The County Office of Community Development seeks to accept a grant from New York State to administer emergency repairs for low- and moderate-income elderly homeowners in Rockland.

Road Maintenance Projects – An extension of the agreement for cold milling operations will be considered to ensure county roads are properly prepared for paving.

Snow Removal Equipment – The County Highway Department is proposing the purchase of two new snowplow trucks to enhance road maintenance during winter conditions.

Fire Training Center Upgrades – A proposal to acquire a bobcat for the Rockland County Fire Training Center will improve the safe transportation of training props and equipment.

Support for At-Risk Individuals – The County Department of Social Services is set to formalize an agreement with the Village of Haverstraw to provide direct supportive and preventative services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the North Rockland area.

Family-Centered Services Pilot Program – The County Department of Social Services is also seeking to accept grant funding to operate a program designed to assist recipients of temporary assistance in achieving self-sufficiency.

These initiatives, if approved, will enhance services and infrastructure across Rockland County, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to improving the well-being of residents. The County Legislature will deliberate and vote on these matters at tonight’s meeting.
