Rockland County Legislature To Hold Its First August Meeting with Major Project and Budget Proposals

The Rockland County Legislature’s first meeting in August on Tuesday will feature a public hearing regarding a $7.8 million renovation and expansion project for Rockland County Sewer District No. 1.

During the meeting, the lawmakers will discuss authorizing the issuance of $7,810,000 bonds, along with bond anticipation notes to be issued in anticipation of the sale.

Additionally, the Budget and Finance Committee will refer two projects for consideration: a $192,745 playground resurfacing project at Haverstraw Bay Park and $1.4 million for general construction at the county’s Fire Training Site-Fire Operations Building.

The committee also recommends approving an extra $14.3 million for a $75 million contract with Transdev Services, Inc. This contract would provide management, operations, and maintenance for the county’s public transportation fixed-route bus service until Oct. 31, 2024, with one 1-year renewal option.

Furthermore, they propose allocating an additional $400,000 to the initial $2.7 million appropriation. This funding would be used to purchase and install more license plate readers and related licensing until May 31, 2025.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the Allison-Parris Office Building in New City.
