The Rockland County Legislature has unanimously appointed Moshe Hopstein to represent District 13, filling the seat left vacant by former Legislator Aron Wieder’s election to the New York State Assembly.
“It is an honor to join this esteemed body of public servants, and I am both humbled and grateful for this opportunity,” said Legislator Hopstein. “I have dedicated many years to public service, and I look forward to continuing this work at the county level to serve the residents of my district.”
Legislator Hopstein brings extensive experience in public service and community advocacy. A lifelong Rockland County resident born at Good Samaritan Hospital, he has served as Chairman of the Village of Spring Valley Zoning Board of Appeals, assisted property owners in the Town of Ramapo Assessor’s Office, and was an active member of the East Ramapo Central School District Board of Education, where he championed the needs of children with special needs.
A New York state-licensed real estate broker with over 30 years of experience, Legislator Hopstein is also the president of Landslide Realty Corp. He and his wife are proud parents of eight children and four grandchildren.
Legislature Majority Leader Alden Wolfe, who introduced the resolution appointing Legislator Hopstein, praised his dedication and qualifications. “Moshe Hopstein is a devoted husband, father, and businessman with a proven record of public service. He is the right choice for this position.”
Legislator Joel Friedman, who seconded the resolution, echoed this sentiment. “Moshe Hopstein is truly the right person for the job. His extensive experience and deep commitment to the community will serve the people of District 13 well.”
Rockland County Legislature Chairman Jay Hood Jr. formally welcomed Legislator Hopstein to the 17-member board. “I look forward to working alongside Legislator Hopstein as he begins this new role. My door is always open, and I am committed to fostering collaboration among all legislators to address the challenges our community faces.”
Surrounded by family, Legislator Hopstein was sworn into office by Rockland County District Attorney Judge Thomas Walsh. A representative from the County Clerk’s Office oversaw the official signing of the elected officials’ log.
District 13 includes a significant portion of Spring Valley and part of unincorporated Ramapo. With this appointment, the Rockland County Legislature continues its mission to ensure effective representation and advocacy for the residents of Rockland County.
