Rockland County Legislators Approve $400,000 Contract for TRIPS Bus Maintenance

Rockland County Legislators have unanimously approved a $400,000 contract with Chestnut Ridge Transportation, ensuring the continued operation of TRIPS buses, a vital service for many local residents. Chestnut Ridge Transportation will provide fleet inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair services under this agreement.

TRIPS (Transportation Resources for Individuals, People, and Seniors) is Rockland County’s paratransit bus service, specifically designed for residents with physical, mental, developmental, or intellectual disabilities, as well as senior citizens aged 60 or older. This lifeline service is reserved for individuals unable to use the county’s municipal, fixed-route bus system.

For many, TRIPS provides essential transportation to doctors’ appointments and other critical destinations, enhancing their independence and access to necessary services.
