Days before Pesach, residents of the King Terrace/Aselin Drive and Union Road area were grappling with an ongoing sewer backup issue that had been causing significant damage to their homes. Recognizing the severity and persistence of the problem, Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder took decisive action to address the situation.
The recurring backups, which had been worsening over time, reached a critical point, prompting Legislator Wieder to coordinate a meeting at the home of Moshe Yitzchok Gross. Attendees included Michael Saber, Executive Director of Sewer Operations and Engineering for Rockland County Sewer District No. 1, Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder, and several affected families.
Understanding the urgency, the Rockland County Sewer District, committed to both immediate and long-term solutions. One near-term measure involved installing systems in individual homes to mitigate the issue, with residents being compensated for these installations. Additionally, the sewer pipes in the area were thoroughly cleaned to address the persistent and frustrating situation.
Legislator Aron Wieder emphasized the importance of swift action, stating, “The well-being of our residents is paramount, and I am committed to resolving this issue as quickly as possible. The collaboration between the Sewer District and the County is crucial in bringing relief to the affected families.”
Village of Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach expressed his gratitude for the cooperative efforts, saying, “This situation required immediate attention, and I’m thankful for the support and partnership from all parties involved. Together, we are working to ensure that our residents can live without the fear of recurring sewer backups.”
In a statement to Monsey Scoop, Moshe Yitzchok Gross, the homeowner who hosted the meeting, thanked the officials on behalf of the neighborhood. “We are deeply grateful to Legislator Aron Wieder, Michael Saber the Executive Director of Sewer Operations and Engineering for Rockland County Sewer District No. 1, and Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach, for their dedication and prompt response. Their efforts have brought us hope and a clear path to resolving this ongoing issue.”
