Rockland County Leaders Visit West Washington Avenue Bridge Construction Site

Rockland County Executive Ed Day, County Highway Superintendent Skip Vezzetti, and Legislator Thomas Diviny recently visited the construction site of the new West Washington Avenue Bridge in the Town of Orangetown. This new bridge is set to replace the aging structure that is due for replacement.

The upgraded bridge will feature enhanced hydraulic capacity, better alignment, and improved scour resistance. It will also be capable of accommodating all legal load limits. In addition to the bridge replacement, the project includes realigning the approach roadways between Old Pascack Road and Highland Avenue, addressing horizontal and vertical curve improvements, and upgrading drainage systems.

To minimize traffic disruptions, the new road and bridge are being constructed adjacent to the existing bridge. Construction commenced in April and is projected to be completed by late 2025.
