Law enforcement agencies across Rockland County are closely monitoring the ongoing military actions in the Middle East and are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of residents.
In a joint statement from Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht and Ramapo Police Chief Daniel Hyman, officials confirmed that the Ramapo Police Department is aware of the situation overseas and is taking necessary precautions around areas of concern within the town’s jurisdiction.
According to the statement, Chief Hyman is in direct communication with Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, NYPD Intelligence, and the department’s detective assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. The department is also coordinating with private analytical partners, including the Community Security Initiative. Officials emphasized that while there are no specific threats reported locally, they are maintaining heightened awareness and preparedness, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
The Haverstraw Police Department also confirmed it is aware of the military action in the Middle East and stated that, at this time, there are no known threats to the Haverstraw community. Haverstraw Police remain in constant communication with local, county, state, and federal partners, and officers continue vigilant patrols and proactive measures to safeguard residents. In Clarkstown, Supervisor George Hoehmann issued an update noting that due to the commencement of military action in Iran, the FBI, U.S. State Department, and Department of Homeland Security have indicated there is an elevated threat risk of potential violence and terrorist activity aimed at the United States, both abroad and domestically.
While there are no known threats locally, the Clarkstown Police Department is elevating its presence and engaging in directed patrols around houses of worship and other sensitive locations throughout the Town of Clarkstown. Officials stated they will maintain an enhanced and elevated presence for an extended period to ensure public safety and security and will provide further updates as necessary.
The Clarkstown Police Department separately confirmed it is actively monitoring developments and remains in close communication with local, state, and federal partners.
