Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced the conviction of Oscar Garcia-Garcia of Spring Valley on charges of Murder in the Second Degree. The verdict, delivered by a Rockland County jury, is related to a fatal stabbing that occurred on December 29, 2022.
Evidence presented during the trial established that Garcia-Garcia stabbed the victim, Luis Pindiusaca-Villa, in the throat with a kitchen knife outside a bar in the Village of Spring Valley shortly before 1:00 a.m. that night. The Spring Valley Police Department responded to the scene, and Garcia-Garcia was arrested later that afternoon. The victim, Luis Pindiusaca-Villa, was 54 years old at the time of the attack.
Garcia-Garcia was charged alongside a co-defendant, Eustaquio Diaz-Gutierrez, who chose to be tried by a judge instead of a jury. Both trials took place simultaneously and were presided over by Judge Kevin F. Russo. On March 14, 2025, Judge Russo found Diaz-Gutierrez guilty of Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Following the conviction, District Attorney Walsh released a statement acknowledging the severity of the crime and the outcome of the case. “The defendant in this case was convicted by a jury of twelve of his peers for Murder in the Second Degree. He engaged in a horrific act of brutality that resulted in the death of the victim. I commend First Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin for securing this conviction. The defendant now faces a lengthy prison sentence for his actions on December 29, 2022.”
The case was investigated by the Spring Valley Police Department. Garcia-Garcia has been remanded to the Rockland County Jail and is awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for June 2025. He faces a potential sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.
The prosecution was led by First Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin and Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Peterson.
