The New York State District Attorneys League of Immigrant Affairs (DALIA) convened its first in-person meeting of 2024, with Rockland County among the newly represented regions. Senior Assistant District Attorney Sharleen Bailon was among the key attendees at this milestone event. Originally composed solely of assistant district attorneys from the New York City Metro area, DALIA has now broadened its reach to include representatives from city, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
The primary goal of DALIA is to foster inter-jurisdictional cooperation among these organizations, particularly in the prosecution of crimes targeting immigrant communities and in the investigation of criminal activities within these populations.
The meeting saw participation from Assistant District Attorneys across multiple counties, including Rockland, Kings, Bronx, Richmond, Nassau, and Queens. Additionally, representatives from various federal and state agencies were in attendance, including the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) New York Asylum Office, the New York State Attorney General’s Office, the Attorney Grievance Committee, and the Supreme Court, Appellate Division First Judicial Department.
