Rockland County Highlights Enhanced DSS Oversight Under New Commissioner Patrick Frawley

Rockland County officials say the appointment of new Department of Social Services Commissioner Patrick A. Frawley will strengthen oversight of public assistance programs while ensuring essential services continue reaching eligible residents.

Frawley, who recently assumed the role after serving six years as Chief Assistant District Attorney and following decades in law enforcement, will oversee programs including temporary assistance, child support services, adult protective services, child welfare, and other critical resources.

County Executive Ed Day said Frawley’s background in prosecution, investigations, and law enforcement will help safeguard taxpayer dollars while maintaining the integrity of the County’s public assistance programs.

“Every dollar intended to help our most vulnerable residents should go to those who truly need it,” Day said. “Patrick Frawley’s unique combination of prosecutorial, investigative, and law enforcement experience ensures the County takes every reasonable step to safeguard public funds, strengthen oversight, and ensure our programs operate with integrity.”

Frawley said he is committed to maintaining strong oversight while ensuring assistance is delivered efficiently to those who qualify.

“I am honored to serve as Commissioner and remain committed to ensuring these vital programs continue to serve those who legitimately rely on them,” Frawley said. “Strong oversight and accountability are essential to maintaining public trust.”

County officials said the Department will continue evaluating ways to improve efficiency while ensuring eligible families receive needed services in a compassionate and timely manner.
