Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services is applauding the dedication of its newest class of recruits, who trained through bitter subzero temperatures last weekend at the Rockland County Fire Training Center.
With temperatures plunging to -5 degrees, recruits continued hands-on drills without hesitation. Training exercises included donning full turnout gear in record time and stretching hose lines inside buildings — all while battling the harsh winter conditions.
Officials said the challenging weather only underscored the recruits’ determination and teamwork. Pushing forward despite the freezing cold, the class demonstrated the resilience and commitment required to serve and protect the residents of Rockland County.
County leaders praised the recruits for their perseverance, noting that the willingness to train under extreme conditions reflects the level of dedication expected of those who answer the call in any weather.
