Rockland County Family Injured in Last Week’s Turbulent Singapore Airlines Flight; One Fatality Reported

A Rockland County family suffered severe injuries during a Singapore Airlines flight that encountered significant turbulence last week, resulting in an emergency landing and a fatality.

Drew Kessler, his wife Vicki, and their two sons from North Haverstraw were aboard flight SQ321 from London to Singapore when it hit severe turbulence, necessitating an emergency landing in Bangkok.

Drew Kessler, Treasurer of Rotary International, disclosed on Facebook that he sustained a broken neck, while his wife Vicki suffered a broken back. Fortunately, their two sons were unharmed. The family was traveling to the Rotary International Convention in Singapore, an event that draws over 13,000 attendees from 120 countries.

Officials reported that 85 passengers were transported to various hospitals in Bangkok, with 19 receiving treatment for injuries. The flight carried 211 passengers and 18 crew members. Unfortunately, 73-year-old British citizen Geoff Kitchen lost his life in the incident.
