Rockland County Executive Sends Letter to Gov. Hochul Regarding NYC Court Filing About Migrant Crisis

On Friday, County Executive Ed Day formally reached out to Governor Kathy Hochul through a letter, voicing concerns about New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ recent court filings. The filings seemingly intend to spread the burden of the current migrant crisis to neighboring regions.

The letter draws attention to the 38 counties out of the 57 outside New York City and the three towns that have already announced State of Emergency (SOE) declarations. County Executive Day emphasized New York’s home rule status, asserting that Mayor Adams does not possess the jurisdictional power to decide matters for other municipalities.
