Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that a Bronx woman has been sentenced to state prison for terrorizing and stealing nearly $19,000 from an elderly man she was entrusted to care for.
On August 27, 2025, Delores Anderson, 60, was sentenced by Rockland County Court Judge Kevin F. Russo to five to 15 years in state prison on each of five counts of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, to run concurrently. A jury convicted Anderson in May 2025 following a one-week trial.
Anderson had been employed as a live-in home health aide for a 78-year-old resident of a Pearl River senior living complex between December 2022 and August 2023. Prosecutors said she repeatedly threatened the victim at knifepoint, coercing him into writing personal checks payable to her.
On May 5, 2023, Anderson forced the victim to write two checks totaling more than $8,000 by threatening him with a kitchen knife. On July 25, 2023, she escalated her threats, pressing the knife against his stomach and demanding three more checks totaling nearly $11,000. In total, Anderson deposited five checks worth $18,972 into her account.
“The defendant abused her position of trust to exploit and terrorize a vulnerable elderly man for her own financial gain,” said District Attorney Walsh. “Today’s sentence ensures that she is held accountable for her crimes. My office will continue to pursue justice for those who target the elderly and prey upon our most vulnerable residents.”
As part of her sentence, Anderson was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim. The case was investigated by the Town of Orangetown Police Department and prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Allyson White and Brittany Richardson.
