As part of National Police Week 2025, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II hosted a special ceremony on Monday, May 12, recognizing local law enforcement officers for their outstanding dedication and service.
National Police Week, observed this year from May 11 to May 17, was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to honor the contributions and sacrifices of peace officers across the country. May 15 is designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day.
“Police Week pays tribute to the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who serve and protect us with courage, professionalism, and integrity,” said DA Walsh. “We will always remember our fallen officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service of us all. I also want to express my gratitude to our local law enforcement partners throughout Rockland County and to the criminal investigators and undercover officers in my office who exemplify unwavering commitment and excellence.”
At the ceremony held by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, special recognition was given to members of the DA’s Special Investigation Unit. The Certificate of Excellent Police Work in Aid to Prosecution was awarded to Detective Lieutenant Michael Duggan and Detective George del Fierro in appreciation of their exceptional investigative efforts.
