Rockland County Buildings Lit Red From April 27 Through May 4 in Tribute to Fallen Firefighters

Rockland County is once again participating in the nationwide Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters tribute, honoring firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. From April 27 through May 4, the Allison-Parris County Office Building in New City and the Rockland County Fire Training Center in Pomona will be illuminated in red as part of the annual remembrance.

“Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities,” said County Executive Ed Day. “As a former first responder, lighting up our buildings red is a small but powerful way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to show our unwavering support for their families.”

Chris Kear, Rockland County Director of Fire and Emergency Services, added, “The Light the Night tribute is a solemn reminder of the risks firefighters take and the heroes we have lost. We stand with the families of the fallen and reaffirm our commitment to supporting all first responders.”

Residents are encouraged to join the tribute by lighting their homes in red throughout the week.
