Rockland County Breaks Ground on New Firefighter Memorial in New City

Rockland County officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Firefighter Memorial, which will be built on the grounds of the Rockland County Courthouse at 1 South Main Street in New City. The memorial will pay tribute to the county’s fallen firefighters and will also incorporate the relocation of existing memorials honoring local service members who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

The updated design will place all the monuments at the entryway of the new firefighter memorial, creating a unified and dignified tribute space for Rockland’s heroes.

Participating in the ceremony were County Executive Ed Day, Legislative Minority Leader Aney Paul, Sheriff Louis Falco, County Facilities Director Robert Gruffi, Fire & Emergency Services Director Chris Kear, and Fireman’s Memorial Committee Co-Chair Evan Humphry. ADP Contracting is overseeing the construction of the project.
