Rockland County Bikur Cholim Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony For Expanded Facilities At Montefiore Nyack Hospital

Rockland County Bikur Cholim held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning to mark the expansion and relocation of its facilities at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, further strengthening its longstanding partnership with the hospital and the Rockland Jewish community.

The ceremony took place Tuesday morning, where hospital officials, community leaders, and emergency service representatives gathered to celebrate the milestone.

The expanded Bikur Cholim facilities include Shabbos rooms, a food pantry, and additional resources designed to assist patients and families staying with loved ones receiving medical care. Bikur Cholim of Rockland County has maintained a close relationship with Nyack Hospital for many years, working to ensure that members of the community have the support they need during hospital stays.

The program has long been guided by Bikur Cholim’s Founder Rabbi Simon Lauber, who has played a key role in strengthening the partnership between Bikur Cholim, the hospital, and the broader community.

During the ceremony, Dr. Mark Geller President and CEO of Montefiore Nyack Hospital was presented with an award by Bikur Cholim recognizing his outstanding devotion and support of the organization. In his remarks, Dr. Geller reflected on his longstanding relationship with Bikur Cholim and Rabbi Simon Lauber and praised the organization’s commitment to helping families during difficult times.

Also in attendance were representatives from the offices of Congressman Mike Lawler, and New York State Senator Bill Weber along with numerous community leaders, including New Square Mayor Izzy Spitzer, Rabbi Chaim Zvi Ehrenreich of Chabad of Nyacks, Rabbi Yisroel Kahana and Rabbi Joel Fried.

Representatives from Rockland Hatzoloh and Kiryas Joel Hatzoloh were present as well, including community liaison to Nyack Hospital Rabbi Reuven Austerlitz, Rockland Hatzoloh Captain Abe Rosenberg, and Kiryas Joel Hatzoloh Captain Yitzchok Shlomo Polatseck, highlighting the strong cooperation between local emergency services and the hospital.

Executive Director of Bikur Cholim and Achieve Behavioral Health Rabbi Aron Reiner also addressed those gathered, speaking about the importance of Bikur Cholim’s mission and the vital services it provides to patients and their families.

Community leaders noted that the expanded facilities will allow Bikur Cholim of Rockland County to continue providing critical support, food, accommodations, and assistance for patients and families during hospital stays, further strengthening the partnership between Bikur Cholim and Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

  1. Hopefully they’ll stock it as well as Chesed 24/7 stocks the Chesed Room in Good Sam! (I actually think they work along nicely, as I saw few times some RBC sandwiches in Chesed Room)
