Rockland County officials are advising travelers to plan ahead this Thanksgiving, as public transit systems across the region will operate on modified schedules and some services will be suspended. The Rockland County Department of Public Transportation and its Transit Information Center will both be closed on Thanksgiving Day, with regular operations resuming Friday.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26 – Early Getaway Service
Metro-North will run a regular weekday schedule with nine extra early-getaway trains beginning at noon across the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven lines. NJ TRANSIT will also operate weekday service with early-getaway trains and several connecting-service adjustments.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27 – Thanksgiving Day
Most Transport of Rockland (TOR) buses will operate on Sunday schedules, including Routes 59, 91, 92, 93, and Loop 3.
TOR 91 will not serve New City, the Yeager Health Center, or Helen Hayes Hospital.
No service will run on TOR 94, 95, and 97.
TOR Loop 1 and Loop 2 will run on a normal schedule.
TRIPS paratransit will provide ADA service only.
Clarkstown Mini Trans buses will not operate.
Kaser Village Transit will run regular winter service.
Hudson Link buses will operate weekend service.
Coach USA Rockland Coaches and Shortline services will run modified or limited schedules; riders are urged to check each operator’s website for specifics.
The Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry will not operate.
Metro-North trains will run on a special one-day Thanksgiving schedule, including the Port Jervis Line.
NJ TRANSIT’s Pascack Valley and Main/Bergen lines will run weekend service.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28 – Day After Thanksgiving
TOR buses return to regular weekday service.
TRIPS will again operate ADA service only.
Hudson Link resumes regular service, while Coach USA Rockland Coaches, Shortline commuter buses, and Exit 14 Express will offer limited service.
Clarkstown Mini Trans and Kaser Village Transit will run normal schedules.
Metro-North will operate a special Saturday schedule, and the Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry will run a modified schedule matched to the Hudson Line.
NJ TRANSIT Pascack Valley and Main/Bergen lines will operate weekend service; Port Jervis Line trains will run weekend service as well.

Earlier Detour Reminder – TOR 91 & 97 (Nov. 10–21)
TOR Routes 91 and 97 continue to follow a weekday detour through November 21 due to a NYSDOT paving closure on Route 9W between Haverstraw Road and Route 304. The closure runs weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with riders advised to expect major delays. Boarding locations are adjusted near Mountain Court (southbound) and Route 304 (northbound).
