Rockland County Allocates Over $1 Million to Combat Homelessness and Support Vulnerable Residents

Rockland County Commissioner of Social Services Joan Silvestri and County Executive Ed Day have announced the approval of over $1 million in grants from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. The funds aim to provide critical support to individuals and families in need through two essential programs.

The Code Blue Program will fund emergency measures to protect individuals experiencing homelessness during extreme winter weather. These services are provided at the Rockland County Warming Center in Pomona, ensuring a safe and warm environment for those in need.

Additionally, the Solutions to End Homelessness Program will assist individuals and families by offering supportive housing, rental assistance, homeless outreach, and other essential services.

“This funding underscores Rockland County’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its most vulnerable residents,” said County Executive Ed Day.

For more information about the warming center, residents can contact 845-364-2332.
