Rockland Community College and Ramapo College of New Jersey have announced a new transfer agreement aimed at expanding higher education opportunities for local students, creating a streamlined path from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree.
Under the agreement, students who complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) at RCC will be eligible to transfer to Ramapo College with junior standing, allowing them to continue their education without losing credits.
RCC President William P. Mullaney said the partnership reinforces the college’s mission to provide accessible and affordable education pathways. “This agreement enables our graduates to continue their education locally while building on the strong academic foundation they receive at RCC,” he said.
Ramapo College President Cindy Jebb highlighted the regional connection between the two institutions, noting that communities on both sides of the New York–New Jersey border are closely linked. She added that the agreement reflects the shared educational and cultural ties across the region.
Key components of the agreement include:
- Guaranteed admission to Ramapo College for RCC students who earn an A.A. or A.S. degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA (excluding A.A.S. Nursing graduates)
- Transfer of general education credits, allowing students to enter as juniors (with some major-specific prerequisites)
- Eligibility for Ramapo’s Border State Scholarship, renewable for students maintaining continuous enrollment
- Dedicated transfer advising support provided on RCC’s campus
- Ongoing collaboration between both schools to align curriculum and ensure smooth credit transfers
The agreement will take effect for students enrolling in the Fall 2026 semester.
