Deputy County Executive Michael Hoblin represented County Executive Ed Day at the official kickoff of Rockland Community College’s $3 million Nursing Simulation Lab expansion project.
Construction is now underway on a state-of-the-art facility that will dramatically expand hands-on training opportunities for RCC nursing students. Funded through $3 million in federal support, the upgraded lab will nearly double in size, growing to approximately 5,000 square feet — more than seven times the size of the current space.
College officials say the expansion comes at a critical time, as the demand for skilled nurses continues to rise across New York State and nationwide. The new simulation center will feature high-fidelity simulators and fully immersive clinical environments designed to mirror real-world hospital and healthcare settings. These advanced tools will allow students to sharpen their clinical judgment, build confidence, and gain essential hands-on experience before entering the workforce.
The investment represents a major boost to healthcare workforce development in Rockland County, helping prepare the next generation of nursing professionals to serve local hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities.
RCC’s Nursing Program continues to earn statewide recognition for excellence. In 2025, it was ranked #1 out of 153 New York State Board of Nursing-approved associate degree programs by NursingProcess.org. In addition, the program boasts an impressive 94% average pass rate on the NCLEX exam over the past five years — significantly exceeding both state and national averages.
Officials say the expanded facility will further strengthen RCC’s reputation as a leader in nursing education while helping address the growing healthcare needs of the region.
