Rockland Community College Announces Leadership Transition: Dr. Scott J. Kalicki Appointed Officer in Charge

The Rockland Community College (RCC) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Scott J. Kalicki as the new Officer in Charge, effective Monday, January 13. Dr. Kalicki will step into the role following the retirement of the current Officer in Charge, Dr. Beth A. Coyle, who has served in this capacity since June 2024. This leadership change marks a significant milestone as RCC prepares for Dr. William P. Mullaney to assume the presidency in June 2025 as the institution’s ninth president.

Dr. Kalicki brings an impressive background of over 40 years in higher education leadership. He has served as president or interim president at three community colleges and has held pivotal administrative roles at both two- and four-year institutions. A graduate of SUNY Albany, Dr. Kalicki holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and continues to teach graduate programs online. Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Kalicki is an active community leader, with involvement in organizations such as Gilda’s Club, Special Olympics, and CASA.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to join Rockland Community College,” said Dr. Kalicki. “I am eager to engage with the faculty, staff, students, and community, and I look forward to learning from and collaborating with each of them during this transition period.”

The RCC Board of Trustees expressed gratitude to Dr. Coyle for her dedicated service to the college. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Coyle for her unwavering dedication and commitment to Rockland Community College, not just over the past six months but throughout her tenure as Vice President of Operations from 2018 to 2023,” said L’Tanya M. Watkins, Esq., Chair of the RCC Board of Trustees. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Kalicki to the campus and are confident in his ability to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for all.”
