Retired Ramapo Police Detective Wayne Mitchell Elected Mayor of Village of Harriman in Nearby Orange County

Retired Ramapo Police Detective Wayne Mitchell was elected last month as Mayor of the Village of Harriman in Orange County. He previously served as Deputy Mayor for a year, continuing his commitment to public service following a distinguished 25-year career in law enforcement.

As reported on Monsey Scoop, Mitchell was honored upon his retirement from the Ramapo Police Department after a quarter-century of dedicated service: Detective Wayne Mitchell Honored for 25 Years of Service at Ramapo Police Department.

Now as mayor, Mitchell told Monsey Scoop, “One thing I’ve always emphasized is the diverse skillset we develop as police officers—leadership, communication, decision-making. It’s an honor to bring those strengths into a new chapter of public service, and I’ll always work to reflect positively on law enforcement.”

The Village of Harriman, incorporated in 1914, is located in nearby Orange County and spans parts of the Towns of Woodbury and Monroe. Residents are optimistic about the village’s direction under Mayor Mitchell’s experienced and community-driven leadership.
