Remembering Officers Kennedy and Reedy: 51 Years Since Their Line-of-Duty Deaths

On Friday, the Orangetown community solemnly commemorated the 51st anniversary of the tragic deaths of Orangetown Police Officers Thomas Kennedy and Michael Reedy. On August 2, 1973, the two patrolmen were struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while they were directing traffic at an accident scene on Route 303 in Blauvelt.

The incident sent shockwaves through the quiet community of Rockland County, leaving a lasting impact on residents and fellow officers alike. The loss of Officers Kennedy and Reedy underscored the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, highlighting the risks they take to ensure public safety.
