Construction is now underway at the Pearl River Shopping Center, which was severely damaged in the November 2021 RISE (Rockland Indoor Shooting & Education) fire. Property owners of the center have received the necessary permits to rebuild the sections of the building destroyed in the blaze.
This reconstruction project includes plans for two prominent national tenants to occupy spaces on the top floor. According to David Rosen, Executive Vice President of Rosen Associates Management Corp, the property manager, construction is expected to be completed by early April, with the goal of returning to normal operations by summer 2024.
The road to recovery has been a two-year journey since the devastating incident that occurred on November 28, 2021. During that time, a fire that started in the underground range of RISE led to the destruction of nearby businesses, including Dollar General and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Firefighters faced significant challenges, battling the blaze from the outside due to the potential hazard posed by ammunition stored within RISE. While six firefighters sustained minor injuries during the firefighting efforts, their resilience and the community’s determination have paved the way for the shopping center’s revitalization.
