Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Veterans Service Agency (VSA) Director Susan Branam recently recognized two outstanding community members for their dedication to supporting veterans. During a special ceremony, plaques were presented to Joseph Damonti and Damien Shea, celebrating their extraordinary efforts to assist veterans in need.
Joseph Damonti, the General Manager of Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service, has shown unwavering commitment to veterans and their families. Over the years, he has been a compassionate caregiver, ensuring that indigent veterans receive dignified burial services. Beyond his professional contributions, Joseph is actively involved in various community organizations, including the Knights of Columbus McCloskey Council #4565, the Italian American Club, and the New City Chamber of Commerce.
Damien Shea, a former United States Marine Corps service member, holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Operations from SUNY Maritime. Currently employed as a Police Radio Dispatcher for the Town of Clarkstown, Damien also serves as Commander of the VFW Willis Polhemus Post 9215. In his role, he has gone above and beyond to assist veterans, including recently helping a veteran secure permanent housing and access to healthcare.
Both honorees exemplify the spirit of service and commitment, demonstrating what it means to give back to those who have served our country. The Rockland County community is proud to honor Joseph Damonti and Damien Shea for their tireless dedication and efforts.
