The Town of Ramapo is inviting residents, business owners, and community stakeholders to participate in Public Open House #2 as part of the ongoing Unincorporated Ramapo Comprehensive Plan Update, which focuses on the Monsey, Hillcrest, and Western Ramapo areas.
The open house will take place Monday, March 23, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ramapo Town Hall, 237 Route 59 in Suffern. The event will follow a drop-in format, allowing attendees to arrive at any time during the two-hour window. There will be no formal presentation, but visitors will have the opportunity to review informational displays, interact with planning materials, and share feedback about the future of the community.
Town officials say the meeting will build on feedback collected over the past several months from residents, business owners, and community leaders. The Comprehensive Plan Update and accompanying Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) are intended to guide the future growth and development of the unincorporated areas of Monsey, Hillcrest, and Western Ramapo.
The updated plan will address key issues including population growth, traffic congestion, walkability, housing attainability, land use planning, open space, transportation, and infrastructure needs.
Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht encouraged community participation in the process.
“We encourage all residents, business owners, and community stakeholders to join us at the upcoming Public Open House,” Specht said. “This is your opportunity to help shape the future of our town. Your ideas, feedback, and vision are essential as we plan for thoughtful growth, economic opportunity, and vibrant neighborhoods.”
Specht added that community input will play a major role in ensuring Ramapo remains a place where residents want to live, work, and invest.
The Comprehensive Plan Update will serve as a roadmap for future development and policy decisions in the area and represents the first major update since the Town’s 2004 Comprehensive Plan.
Residents who require translation services are asked to contact the Supervisor’s Office no later than March 16.
For more information, residents can contact the Ramapo Supervisor’s Office at (845) 357-5100 or visit www.ramapo.gov to submit comments and stay updated on the project.
